Wildcard Final Week!
Well it's the final week for your "window" wildcard, have you stacked your team yet? Time and time again we are reminded how preparation and planning is the key to success. With Portland, Real Salt Lake, Dallas and Chivas all on doubleheaders Round 27, it would be silly not to accumulate a large portion of your roster with such players.
Not only that but with the opportunity to fully redevelop your roster, it would be wise to add players for week 29. Teams that play twice that week are Seattle, Houston, Columbus and Chivas.
We feature 4 players this week who are strong candidates for solid games not just this round but their next week's doubleheaders too and 1 who needs some convincing.
High Risk, High Reward:
Alvaro Saborio ($10.1m), Real Salt Lake
– At $10.1m Saborio is a steep price for a forward option, but scoring 4 goals in his last 3 weeks is argument enough. He visits Los Angeles Galaxy this week who have had their own struggles this season at keeping the ball out of their net. The relatively safe match up paired with a double header the following week makes Saborio worth every penny.
Safe Buy:
Matt Hedges ($5.6m), FC Dallas
– It's not the Dallas that started the year but it's still the real Matt Hedges. In the first eight games Dallas received five clean sheets. In the following 15 games they've received just two, but we're confident in Matt Hedges ability to pull throw and get some solid bonus points. He's another player who will be featuring in a double game week next round, which is an added incentive. At $5.6m a drop from a $6.0m valuation, he's your safe bet for this week and next.
Value Pick:
Rodney Wallace ($5.1m), Portland Timbers
– Wallace, who is listed as a defender but often plays forward for the Timbers is a must own. Two weeks back after Gold Cup action he's struggled to find his previous form. But we feel it's just a matter of time until he starts clicking again. Four goals and five assists on the year is not to be ignored. His price should increase due to the demand of the double game week.
Wait and See
Blas Perez ($9.0m), Dallas FC
– Fresh off a 2 goal brace last week, albeit both goals being missed offside calls, he's a player to keep an eye on for Round 27. We're not buying him just yet as we're more than skeptical of the inconsistent scoring Perez comes with. One needs to be remind though, in Round 27 Dallas face Chivas USA and San Jose Earthquakes, the easiest of all the doubleheader teams. We're going to see how he plays against Portland this week and then make our judgement call.
