Two weeks left for those who haven't burned their second wildcard. Are you picking the right players?
With many managers leaving it to the last minute, decisions are needed to be made. One thing's for certain, be sure to plan ahead for the double week in Round 27 to maximize your game exposure. That means Real Salt Lake, Portland Timbers, FC Dallas and Chivas USA should all be competing for a place in your starting 11 over the next few weeks.
Selecting the right players in build up for Round 27 with the right mix of premium fantasy players can be quite a conundrum. That's why this week we focus on a few players and a team that you'll want to keep an eye over the next month.
Alvaro Saborio ($9.0m), Real Salt Lake
– As the All-Star week wraps up it's easy to forget that Saborio is coming off a hat trick. More importantly he's a guy you want in your team moving forward thanks to the scheduling. Considering they sit in first place in the league they show no signs of slowing down with some key players returning to their team now that Gold Cup is finished.
Erick Torres ($7.0m), Chivas USA
– It's rare that anyone from Chivas USA gets in to the fantasy report but Chivas appears to have found something special here. Two games played and two goals scored. He's the player they're rallying behind, something the fanbase desperately deserves after a rough season. Of course they are still last in the west so this pick isn't one without risk, but they're facing a struggling San Jose Earthquakes which is definitely a plus.
Team of the week (Round 24), Montreal Impact
– Do you have a piece of the Impact this week? We do! Montreal has made some big news with some key acquisitions in the last week. The biggest being designated player Hernan Bernardello ($7.5m), early expectations are he slots in as a holding midfielder, not necessarily a big point producing position in our format. We're not sure if he gets the start this weekend but he's definitely one to watch.
Marco Di Vaio ($8.9m) hasn't scored in 3 games, his longest drought on the season. There's no telling he's due. He finds ways to get it done and always seems to be in the right place at the right time. Facing the worst team in the league D.C. United is an added bonus.
Other options include Matteo Ferrari ($4.6m) and Alessandro Nesta ($4.9m). With back to back clean sheets these two are the rocks solidifying the back line. When healthy, these two run the show, limit any mistakes and organize very well at the back.
