Double game week brings a trio of teams! Between New England Revolution, Colorado Rapids and Toronto FC, how are you stacking your squad?
The safe bet this week is defense. Colorado and New England have both experienced successful spells this season with keeping the ball out of the net. Finding value in those two teams is rather easy so we've maxed out on three each of Revolution and Rapids players. As for Toronto FC, they've been undergoing big changes recently with a number of players moving on, causing plenty of starting positions to now be up for grabs. Proceed with caution as having to guess if a player is starting or not, isn't a winning formula.
Stephen McCarthy ($4.8m), New England Revolution
– The cheapest starting defender for the Revolution McCarthy is a good option for a team with salary cap issues. If money is no option then of course select the captain, Jose Goncalves ($6.7m). We've gone with McCarthy as we feel if the back line gets any success over this next round, they'll all feed off it together.
Saer Sene ($8.3m), New England Revolution
– Sene has scored in back to back games for the Revolution. With two games this week, we expect Sene to get on the scoresheet. Whether it's another goal or a helping assist is irrelevent to us, just as long as he's involved in the play!
Team of the week (Round 22), Colorado Rapids
– It came down to Colorado or New England for the team of the week and the Rapids took the edge for going undefeated in the last 3 games. Clint Irwin ($5.0m) is our keeper this week but there's nothing wrong with going for New England's Bobby Shuttleworth ($5.2m). The back line is where this team excels with Chris Klute ($5.3m) Drew Moor ($5.3m) Nathan Sturgis ($4.7m) all viable options. Our picks are Klute and Moore but if you're cash strapped then Sturgis should be able to fit anywhere in any team.
The only midfielder worthwhile on this squad currently is Dillon Powers ($6.1m). Mr. Powers had an incredible game last week with 7 crosses and 7 key passes. What he could potentially bring fantasy wise for his price is unmatched. The forward situation is a bit tricky. Deshorn Brown ($6.0m) hasn't been getting solid minutes recently, but nevertheless has managed with 3 goals over 5 games. At $6.0m he could be worth the gamble, but we prefer to focus our 3 Colorado players in our line up to be defensive minded.
