As we reflect on the devastating discovery at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School, we stand with the Tk'emlúps te Secwépemc and Indigenous communities in their collective grief and honour each of the 215 children whose lives were tragically lost.
We must face responsibility for the atrocities of the residential school system and commit to the necessary work of learning from Indigenous communities, understanding the systemic trauma and injustices they experienced, and advocating for the needs and rights of First Nations, Metis and Inuit people.
