Dos Santos on staying prepared: "Our performance group is talking to every player"

Phillip and Marc Dos Santos - 2020 preseason training

With no team training or meetings, Vancouver Whitecaps FC head coach Marc Dos Santos spoke with Halford & Brough on TSN Radio 1040 on Monday, regarding how he has been dealing with the current situation.

“You can’t prepare for training, you can’t prepare for games,” said Dos Santos.

Major League Soccer announced on Sunday, March 15, that it has extended the team training moratorium through, and including, Friday, March 20.

“These last days have been kind of weird, to be honest with you,” he added.

MLS players have been told to remain in each club’s respective market, and have been advised to exercise safe social distancing measures.

With regards to how he keeps his players fit and focused during this time with all the restrictions for precautionary reasons, Dos Santos says that the club's Performance Strategy group has been in daily contact with the players.

“Our performance group is talking to every player, giving guidelines, having them following certain individual programs, letting them know what they have to do to stay fit,” said Dos Santos.
