Nathan Demian
has been called up to the Egypt U-19 national team for the 2020 Arab Cup U-20 tournament in Saudi Arabia.
Egypt have been drawn into Group C and will play Algeria on February 18, Saudi Arabia on February 21, and Palestine on February 24. The top two teams in the group will advance to the quarterfinals on February 27 and 28. The semifinals will then take place on March 2, with the final on March 5.
The 17-year-old defender from Langley, BC was first selected to the Whitecaps FC Academy in 2015, and joined the Development Squad at the start of 2020. During his three seasons playing with the ‘Caps in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy league, Demian has started 31 of his 41 matches played.
Demian, a dual Canadian-Egyptian citizen, has previously represented Canada at the U-15 and U-17 levels, including starting all three matches at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.
