MONTERREY, MEXICO – The Whitecaps FC Development Squad put in a valiant effort in the final match of their Mexico trip before falling 1-0 to a side from Liga MX club Tigres UANL.
“Playing this Tigres side provided a tough test against a top Mexican club at the end of positive tour,” noted head coach Nick Dasovic. “It was a really pleasing performance from a number of players. The trip has helped the players mature and understand how to prepare and perform at a higher level. We couldn’t quite get the equalizer late on, but the players gave all they had for he shirt and that’s what we asked for.”
The group now returns to Vancouver to wind down the 2019 season, while a number of players will look forward to representing Canada at next month’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.
