Major League Soccer announced on Monday that Vancouver Whitecaps FC winger Cristian Dájome and goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau have been named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 4.
Dájome notched his first MLS brace over the weekend against Canadian rivals CF Montreal, calmy slotting home a penalty kick in the 57th minute, and later adding his second through a thumping header off a brilliant Deiber Caicedo corner.
Now sitting as the ‘Caps’ leading goalscorer with three goals this campaign, the Colombian has already equaled his goal tally from last season.
“Obviously, it’s always a plus when you score, but it also doesn’t really matter who scores”, said Dájome post-match. “What matters is that we get the three points and we help the team succeed.”
At the other end of the pitch, Crepeau made four saves against his former club over the weekend, including an incredible, point-blank stop in the first half on Montreal striker Bjørn Johnsen, while registering his second clean sheet of the season.
The ‘Caps are now set for a busy week, as the team visits Minnesota United FC at Allianz Field on Wednesday, May 12 at 6:00 p.m. PT and then travel to Kansas City for a showdown at Children’s Mercy Park with Sporting KC on Sunday, May 16 at 11:00 a.m. PT. You can catch both matches live across the TSN network and AM730 radio.
