It’s that time of year yet again.
No, it’s not Christmas time. It’s FIFA ratings time.
Next Friday, October 1, EA Sports will release FIFA 22, the annually released football video game featuring the popular game mode FIFA Ultimate Team.
The game mode allows you to create your own dream team of professional players, who receive a base card ranked by a rating anywhere between 47 to 99 rated.
Players can receive anywhere from a bronze (47 to 64 rated), silver (65 to 74 rated) or gold card (75 to 99 rated) depending on their real-life performance in the past year.
To help get you started on FIFA Ultimate Team this year, we look at the top five ‘Caps players on FIFA 22 and how they could fit into your starter squad.
Starting off the list is our young Colombian winger Déiber Caicedo, who’s been given a 70 rated Silver card after previously receiving a 68 rated Silver card back in FIFA 21.
The highest base attributes on Caicedo’s card are his 83 pace and 76 dribbling, which can be used together to help skip past opponents as well as take advantage of space in behind opposing backlines.
In terms of in-depth statistics, Caicedo was given 87 agility and 89 balance, both of which aren’t very common on a Silver card.
The Colombian is also one of two ‘Caps players to be given four-star skill moves, allowing him to perform a wider variety of skills compared to other players.
Continuing the list is fellow Colombian Cristian Dájome, who’s received a 72 rated Silver card and a plus three upgrade from his 69 rated card in FIFA 21.
Similar to Caicedo, the winger’s highest base card stats include his 83 pace and his 72 dribbling but also has a pretty good physical at 69, which comes in handy when trying to muscle off defenders.
Dájome’s highest in-depth stats include 83 stamina, 80 agility, 78 balance and 75 penalties.
The Colombian also has high attacking and high defensive work rates that allow him to make more intelligent runs off the ball and get back defensively.
It’s safe to say if you need a pair of speedy wingers in your FUT 22 starter squad, you can’t go wrong with the ‘Caps Colombian duo.
Placing third on this year’s ‘Caps FIFA rankings is goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau with a 71 rated Silver card, a plus one upgrade from his card from last year.
The Canadian international sits in the top 10 MLS goalkeepers in the game thanks to his 72 overall rating, 74 reflexes, 73 positioning and 71 diving.
It’s always hard to predict the performance of goalkeepers in FIFA but if you’re planning to craft an MLS starter squad in Ultimate Team, Crépeau is one of the best options to help keep your opponent off the board.
Coming in at second on the ‘Caps FIFA 22 ratings is striker Lucas Cavallini with a 73 rated Silver card, the same rating he had in FIFA 21.
The most significant upgrade on El Tanque’s new card is his 85 physical, making him the fifth strongest player in the game from MLS.
Other notable in-depth stats include his 90 strength, 83 aggression, 80 jumping and 77 shot power as well as four-star weak foot, allowing him to make better contact on the ball when taking shots or making passes with his left foot.
Like Dájome’s work rates, Cavallini also has high attacking and high defensive work rates, which allow him to press the opponent off the ball and make more threatening runs in the final third.
If you’re the type of player who whips balls into the box and needs good hold-up striker play, El Tanque can help in both those areas as well as finish chances with either foot.
Capturing the top spot in the ‘Caps top five FIFA 22 ratings is none other than our Scottish playmaker Ryan Gauld, who’s received the largest upgrade out of any ‘Caps player on this list.
The midfielder previously received a 70 rated Silver card in FIFA 21 and has now been given a 75 rated Gold card in this year’s edition, a full plus five upgrade.
In terms of most notable base card stats, Gauld has 80 pace, 80 dribbling and 75 passing, a good combination of attributes for a centre-attacking midfielder to create opportunities in the game.
Other in-depth stats include a whopping 91 agility, 90 balance, 78 ball control, 78 vision and 78 curve, which are all very good stats for a 75 rated Gold card.
Gauld’s card also has four-star skill moves along with high attacking and high defending work rates, which make his card a force to be reckoned with.
