VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed on Monday that the club is set to face USL Championship side Las Vegas Lights FC in a preseason friendly during the teams final phase of preseason in Southern California.
The friendly will be played on Sunday, February 12 at Empire Polo Club, with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m. PT.

During their time in Southern California, the 'Caps have played two matches in the 2023 Coachella Valley Invitational, drawing 1-1 against Eastern Conference opponents D.C. United and Charlotte FC. The team's next preseason match is set for Wednesday, February 8 against Canadian rivals Toronto FC, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. PT.
Prior to the match against Las Vegas on Super Bowl Sunday, Vancouver will face expansion side St. Louis CITY SC in their fourth match of the Invitational, with kickoff set for 12:30 p.m. PT. The 'Caps will then wrap up preseason on Saturday, February 18 against Minnesota United FC, with kickoff set for 10 a.m. PT.
Following the final preseason game, the ‘Caps will return to Vancouver and train at the Whitecaps FC National Soccer Development Centre as they prepare to kick off the 2023 MLS regular season in front of their home fans at BC Place, hosting fellow Western Conference side Real Salt Lake on Saturday, February 25.
In their next home match, the Blue and White will play their opening match of the 2023 Concacaf Champions League against Honduran side Real CD España in the first leg of the Round of 16 on Wednesday, March 8.
