FRISCO, TX – Vancouver Whitecaps FC earned a 2-0 away victory against Western Conference side FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas this Saturday evening.

The first half started early on with the ‘Caps building up a quick counter attack organized by Déiber Caicedo, as the winger found his Colombian compatriot Cristian Dájome on the left flank of the field. As the attack progressed, Dájome fed Lucas Cavallini inside the box, with the striker’s right footed shot finding the back of the net inside the 2nd minute.

Following some hold up play on the final third in the 12th minute, Marcus Godinho’s pass found midfielder Andrés Cubas, his strong shot from distance struck off the right post as the ‘Caps continued to build on with their pressure.

Right before the end of the first half, the Blue & White were awarded a free kick just outside the box and Caicedo’s ensuing free kick strike found the right side of the net in the 44th minute match to give the 'Caps a 2-0 lead.

The second half began with the home side getting back into the mix in the 63rd minute. An opportunity was created by FC Dallas midfielder Paxton Pomykal, his cross led to forward Franco Jara’s header going just over the top of the 'Caps goal.

FC Dallas would continue with their build up play later on, as FC Dallas winger Jáder Obrian placed a quick pass on the left side of the field to Jara inside the box, who saw his volley go wide in the 86th minute of the match.

As the home side pushed in the later stages of the match, the ‘Caps defence fended off any opportunities that were found in the final third as the final whistle blew.

The Blue & White return home for a four-game home stretch next Wednesday, June 22 when they host York United FC in the semifinals of the Canadian Championship.
