‘Caps Chronicle: Getting defensive

'Caps Chronicle - March 21, 2012

WHITECAPS FC IN THE NEWS:

Back-to-back clean sheets were a first for Whitecaps FC in Major League Soccer, but one reporter notes that a new, “tactical and mental change on the team,” is what’s truly worth noting. “I think the work that we do this season it’s really different, the mentality is different,” explains midfielder Davide Chiumiento. (Hosea Chung - 24Hours)

Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Floyd Franks may be the picture or serenity off the field, digging into novels and partaking in crosswords, but on the field he’s known for being bold and tenacious. “He'll sit in the hotel room every day [on the road], just reading, not really talking to anybody," says Vancouver Whitecaps goalkeeper Brad Knighton. Get to know a little bit about the intriguing and audacious addition to Whitecaps FC's roster in this feature story from The Province's Marc Weber. (Marc Weber - The Province)

A total of six players from Major League Soccer made the final cut of the Canadian men's under-23 national team roster for the CONCACAFOlympic qualifying tournament that begins this Thursday, March 22nd. It should come as no surprise to ‘Caps fans that both Russell Teibert and Bryce Alderson both made the squad along with former 'Caps Philippe Davies, Randy Edwini-Bonsu and Marcus Haber.
