In the second part of our two part 'Caps for Canada Year in Review, we take a look at the men's side of call-ups for the Blue and White this year.
While much attention was given to the senior men's national team and their efforts to get to the hexagonal phase of World Cup qualifying, the younger age groups were putting in work to ensure that we can look forward to a bright future for Canadian men's soccer.
Of note, Russell Teibert earned his first call-up to the senior men's national team, while a parade of 'Caps Residency products littered U-20, U-18, U-17 and U-15 rosters.
MEN
On the men’s side there were a total of 25 current male players who were called up to Canadian national teams in 2012. That number increases to 27 player call-ups when you factor in that Teibert (U-23 and senior MNT) and Bryce Alderson (U-23 and U-20) were each called up to two seperate national squads.
Breaking it down:
- 1 to the senior men's national team
- 2 to the men's U-23 Olympic team
- 7 to the men's U-20 team
- 6 to the men's U-18 team
- 6 to the men's U-17 team
- 5 to the boys' U-15 team
