Canada Soccer announced on Thursday that nine Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency players have been called into camp with Canada`s U-17 men’s national team. The camp will take place in Florida from December 11 until December 18.

On Monday, Canada was drawn into Group B for the 2015 CONCACAF Under-17 Championships that takes place in February and March in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. They’re alongside Costa Rica, Haiti, Mexico, Panama, and Saint Lucia as they look for Canada’s third-straight FIFA U-17 World Cup berth.
“It’s exciting now that you know your opponents,” said head coach Sean Fleming. “We’ll get our shape organized and getting all the players in and do the final adjustments to get ready for qualification.”
Having coached Canada to the previous two competitions, Fleming knows how important these final few months are to a team’s preparation.
“The message to the players will be that we have to take care of all the little things. The little things will make the difference for you to be successful and qualify,” said Fleming. “That message is strong and clear. And we’ll be ready to play to the best of our abilities.”
Starting on February 28, Canada will play Haiti, Costa Rica, Mexico, Saint Lucia, and Panama with the group stage concluding on March 12. All of their games will be played at the Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano.
The group winner advances to the final with a spot in the FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile 2015 guaranteed while the second and third place teams will playoff with the second and third placed teams from the other group for the final two berths.
