It was a chilly 2 degrees last night on West Pender Street, but Bob Lenarduzzi and his son Ryan didn’t seem to notice. Along with 18 other business leaders, they were motivated and inspired by a cause that has touched the lives of many youth in this province and country.
The participants of Sleep Out were able to raise $240,000 in support of Covenant House. The Sleep Out is taking place at 12 different Covenant House locations throughout Canada and the United States. So far, in 2012, the event has raised $2,642,778 with donations still coming in.
"Having the chance to meet the youth truly pieced together the reality of why Ryan and I were there," said Bob Lenarduzzi, Whitecaps FC president. "Ryan and I were moved and inspired by all of the youth and the ability of Covenant House to help them overcome adversity. We hope that the funds and awareness generated last night will facilitate movement forward in getting youth off the streets of Vancouver."
