VANCOUVER, BC
– Kicking off the Development Academy Playoffs, the 10th ranked Whitecaps FC U-17s, part of the BMO Academy System, defeated the 18th ranked San Diego Surf 3-1 on Tuesday evening in Oceanside, California.
San Diego would be the first to strike with a goal in the 27th minute, however the ‘Caps would answer back with three straight goals from
Massud Habibullah
,
Simon Colyn
, and
Owen Antoniuk
that would help them earn all three points.
Alongside the ‘Caps in group A, fourth ranked FC Dallas would go on to beat 31st ranked Atlanta United FC 3-0 to tie the ‘Caps in points at the top of the group table. Only the group winner will advance to the quarterfinals.

Next up for the U-17s is a match on Thursday, June 20 against Atlanta United FC. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. PT. Meanwhile, the U-19s will play their second match of the playoffs on Wednesday, after playing to a scoreless draw against Chargers SC on Monday. The U-19s will face the Michigan Wolves at 4 p.m. PT.
