BMO Whitecaps FC Academy teams wrapped up the Development Academy regular season this past weekend in Northern California, taking on San Jose Earthquakes and Sacramento Republic FC.
U-19
The U-19s played to a 2-2 draw against San Jose on Saturday. Simon Colyn and Jalen Watson scored the goals for the ‘Caps.
On Sunday the ‘Caps fell 3-1 to Sacramento. Vasco Fry scored the lone goal for the Blue and White.
The U-19s end the regular season sitting in second place in the Northwest Division, and ninth overall in the overall league standings.
U-17
The U-17s played to a wild 4-4 draw versus San Jose on Saturday.
Damiano Pecile gave the ‘Caps an early lead, before San Jose came back to go ahead 2-1. But the ‘Caps scored the next two from Massud Habibullah and Emiliano Brienza. After San Jose equalized, Kam Habibullah put the Blue and White ahead again, only for San Jose to draw level in the final minute.
The Sunday match ended 2-1 in favour of Sacramento. Owen Antoniuk scored for the ‘Caps.
Having played all of their matches, the U-17s are in second place in the Northwest Division and 10th overall in the league.
U-15
The U-15s fell 6-2 to San Jose on Saturday. Alessandro Comita and Connar MacLean netted the goals.
Sunday finished 1-0 for Sacramento.
The U-15s end their season in fourth place in the Northwest Division.
NEXT UP
The U-19s and U-17s will both be in the Academy Playoffs, taking place June 17 to 25 in Oceanside, California.
The draw for the playoffs is expected to take place next week.
