VANCOUVER, BC – This past Saturday, October 14, the Whitecaps FC Nelson BMO Development Academy traveled to Kelowna to participate in a series of friendly matches against partner club Kelowna City FC.
In total, five teams, comprising approximately 70 players, took part in this event, showcasing the diversity of talent within the Whitecaps FC BMO Academy System and providing them with an opportunity to compete and display their skills.
"We're thrilled about hosting the Whitecaps FC Nelson BMO Development Academy players for matches in Kelowna this past weekend," said Ariel Gitz, head coach of the Whitecaps FC Okanagan BMO Academy. "The energy was fantastic, and it was an overall great experience for those involved. The Network Partnership that we have with Vancouver Whitecaps FC is a key cornerstone for great experiences for players in Kelowna, and this showcases the benefits of the partnership."
Brett Adams, associate head coach of Whitecaps FC BMO Academy Centres, also shared his thoughts on the event: "It's really exciting to bring additional match play opportunities to players in our academy centre programs. The professionalism and organization that Kelowna City FC has demonstrated in planning this event have been top-class, and I'm grateful for the experience it provided for our players."
