VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Tristan Blackmon has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday following his performance in the club's match against FC Dallas in Matchday 31.
Making his first start since June 22, Blackmon was solid over the course of the 90 minutes to help the shorthanded 'Caps secure a clean sheet, while also being a threat at the other end, including a header that hit the crossbar in the second half.
Blackmon becomes the 10th different Whitecaps FC player to be selected to the MLS Team of the Matchday this season. Captain Ryan Gauld leads the team with nine selections (Matchday 7, Matchday 10, Matchday 15, Matchday 17, Matchday 18, Matchday 20, Matchday 24, Matchday 26, Matchday 30), followed by forward Brian White (Matchday 5, Matchday 11, Matchday 23, Matchday 26), forward Fafa Picault (Matchday 7, Matchday 28). goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka (Matchday 8, Matchday 24), defender Ranko Veselinovic (Matchday 8, Matchday 27), midfielder Alessandro Schöpf (Matchday 8), wingback Ali Ahmed (Matchday 4), defender MathÃas Laborda (Matchday 24), and midfielder Pedro Vite (Matchday 30).
