Blackmon named to MLS Team of Matchday 7

VANCOUVER, BC – Major League Soccer announced on Monday that Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Tristan Blackmon, has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday following a 2-0 win over Colorado Rapids at BC Place, as the 'Caps moved to the top of the MLS standings.

The 'Caps centre back helped the team record their second straight clean sheet, fourth of the MLS season, and fifth in all competitions. Blackmon tied for the team lead with eight duels won, while also adding five recoveries, four clearances, and two successful dribbles.

Blackmon earns his second selection of the year (Matchday 4). In total, seven different Whitecaps FC members have earned MLS Team of the Matchday this season, including head coach Jesper Sørensen (Matchday 4), defender Mathías Laborda (Matchday 3), midfielders Sebastian Berhalter (Matchday 4) and Pedro Vite (Matchday 1), forwards Jayden Nelson (Matchday 1) and Brian White (Matchday 2).

The 'Caps are right back in action this coming Wednesday, April 9 in a massive match in the Concacaf Champions Cup versus Pumas UNAM in Mexico City, Mexico. The decisive second leg encounter will kick off at 7:30 p.m. PT, live on OneSoccer, FuboTV, TELUS 980.

The Blue and White are back home this Saturday, April 12 when they welcome Austin FC to BC Place in a top of the table clash in the Western Conference. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. PT and tickets are available at whitecapsfc.com/tickets.
