Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Andrés Cubas was named to the MLS Team of the Week bench on Tuesday for his performance in his first 'Caps start against FC Dallas during Week 15.
The Paraguayan international helped keep Dallas at bay by recording five possession recoveries, four interceptions, two successful tackles, two duels won and tallying 81% pass accuracy.
Cubas becomes the fifth 'Caps player to be named to the Team of the Week this season, joining goalkeeper Thomas Hasal (Week 2), defender Tristan Blackmon (Week 5), attacking midfielder Ryan Gauld (Week 6) and forward Lucas Cavallini (Week 12, Week 14).
The 'Caps are set to host Canadian Premier League side York United FC this Wednesday, June 22 at BC Place as they look to book their ticket to the final of the Canadian Championship. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT live on OneSoccer and AM730 radio. Tickets are available at www.whitecapsfc.com/tickets.
