On Wednesday night, Vancouver Whitecaps FC held a very successful first alumni night, with over 70 'Caps from various eras coming together for a fabulous evening in the goalpost lounge during the match.
'Caps legends such as Neil Ellett who scored the first goal in club history, and Doug Muirhead who was instrumental with the 86ers, as well as Jeff Clarke who captained two United Soccer Leagues (USL) championship teams and Canadian Soccer Hall of Famer Andrea Neil, a captain of the women's team, W-League champion, and longtime standout and captain for the Canadian women's national team.
Whitecaps FC executive chair John Furlong, president Bob Lenarduzzi, and club ambassador Carl Valentine gave short speeches and talked about the history of the club and how important it is to grow the alumni program.
