PORTLAND, OREGON – Life on the road took a twist on Friday as Vancouver Whitecaps FC opted for a new method of transportation down to Portland, Oregon in advance of the Rose City Invitational.
The ‘Caps gathered at Pacific Central Station at 6 a.m. to board the Amtrak Cascades — a passenger train that connects Vancouver and Portland through a scenic view of the Pacific Northwest.
It was a long ride – about eight and a half hours, to be exact – but the players kept themselves busy.
There were some card games, some pranks, some (failed) attempts at streaming the Canada-USA men’s hockey Olympic semifinal, and a whole lot of shut-eye.
