VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Friday that ticket sales have reached the regular season capacity at BC Place and additional seats will be opened in the lower bowl for the MLS Conference Semifinal second leg against Cascadia rivals Portland Timbers next Sunday, November 8.

The first leg of the all-Cascadia Western Conference Semifinals will take place this coming Sunday, November 1 at Portland's Providence Park (2 p.m. PT on TSN1 and TSN 1410 radio). The decisive second leg will be played on the following Sunday, November 8 at BC Place – the first ever MLS home playoff match for Whitecaps FC.

Whitecaps FC clinched a bye to the Conference Semifinals after finishing second in the Western Conference with an MLS club record 53 points and 16 wins.
Portland advanced to the Conference Semifinals after defeating Sporting KC 3-2 in a thrilling Knockout Round match on Thursday. The Timbers won in an 11-round penalty shootout after 120 minutes of action – each team scored a goal in extra time.
The ‘Caps went unbeaten against the Timbers during the 2015 MLS regular season with a 1W-0L-2D record.
On March 28, the Blue and White won 2-1 at BC Place on a last-minute goal from Robert Earnshaw. On May 2, the teams played to a 0-0 draw in Portland with Timbers midfielder Darlington Nagbe hitting the post on a penalty kick. The final regular season meeting was a 1-1 draw at Providence Park as ‘Caps midfielder Matias Laba scored a second half equalizer following a first half goal from Diego Valeri.
This will be the first ever MLS Cup Playoffs match between the ‘Caps and Timbers. The rivalry between the two clubs dates back to 1975 in the former North American Soccer League (NASL), and continued in the second division before both teams joined MLS in 2011.
Whitecaps FC hold an all-time record of 35W-30L-17D against the Timbers.
