To wrap-up the 2019 Whitecaps FC Summer Camp season, 100 finalists were invited to take part in the second annual Whitecaps FC Skills Challenge finale at the National Soccer Development Centre (NSDC) in September.
Finalists were chosen based on their performance and attitude, while performing skills challenge drills which were offered at every Whitecaps FC camp this summer.
Selected players travelled in from across the nation, including parts of British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Nova Scotia.
The Skills Challenge Finale consisted of a final series of drills, which were performed on the same practice field that the first team train on. Players and parents experienced a tour of the facility led by club ambassador Carl Valentine and received two tickets to the ‘Caps MLS home match that weekend against Houston Dynamo. As a special bonus, all finalists had the opportunity to be on the pitch at BC Place as flag bearers during the opening ceremony of the MLS match.
While all players were successful in reaching the finale, the top ten scores, combined with the players’ attitude, received a Whitecaps FC team-autographed soccer ball.
The top ten players included:
Campbell Deines (North Vancouver)
Kailey Curtin (Burnaby)
Ronald Nguyen (Vancouver)
Cooper Tait (Chilliwack)
Chloe Taylor (North Vancouver)
Ryder Hewitt (Nanaimo)
Sarina Tait (West Kelowna)
Dayten Carlson (Kootenay East)
Colin Birtwistle (South Cariboo)
Ray Mihailov (Calgary)
