VANCOUVER, BC – The people have spoken.
Erik Hurtado’s ankle-breaking tally against Seattle Sounders FC on May 24 at BC Place has been voted the 2014 Whitecaps FC Goal of the Year, presented by Budweiser.
The brilliant individual effort, which saw Hurtado turn Sounders FC midfielder Osvaldo Alonso inside out before cutting back to his right foot and firing it past goalkeeper Stefan Frei, beat out Hurtado’s left-footed strike against Columbus Crew in the final round.
Congratulations to Hurtado and to Mike Kruk, who by voting in the competition won the Grand Prize of a Budweiser mini fridge.
