On Saturday, April 6 over 70 youth soccer teams from across British Columbia will be traveling to Surrey, BC to compete in the two day annual Whitecaps FC Cup presented by Danone. Boys and girls in age divisions U-9 to U-12 will be joining the tournament from across British Columbia, the Yukon, and Alberta. Teams from B.C. will be representing the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, Okanagan, and Interior areas.
In partnership with Coastal FC, the tournament will be hosted at South Surrey Athletic Park where each team will play a minimum of four games against teams of similar age and skill level. Each match will be played eight aside with the U-9 and U-10’s playing 25-minute halves and the U-11 and U-12’s playing 30-minute halves.
During the tournament, Whitecaps FC coaching staff will also be selecting a number of players to compete in the Danone Nations Cup Provincial Camp— the world’s largest international soccer tournament for youth.
Throughout the weekend participating teams will also have the chance to meet Whitecaps FC players, ‘Caps mascot Spike, interact in games and contests at the ‘Caps Kidszone, and sample Danactive yogurt. In addition, on Sunday afternoon there will be a special autograph signing with one of the 'Caps players between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. PT.
