Come and celebrate Vancouver's successful Major League Soccer bid and watch the Whitecaps of yesteryear when they captured the North American Soccer League championship in 1979.
The University of British Columbia Thunderbirds men’s soccer program will be hosting a fundraiser on Saturday, April 4, at Mahony & Sons Public House, featuring a complete viewing of the 1979 NASL Soccer Bowl championship game between the Tampa Bay Rowdies and Vancouver Whitecaps.
Game footage from the Whitecaps playoff semifinal versus the New York Cosmos will also be shown. There will also be draws and giveaways during the event.
Cost is $20 per person and includes a beverage and a burger. Video footage will start at approximately 4:45 p.m. PDT.
No minors will be permitted to the event.
Mahony & Sons Public House – 5990, University Blvd (just west from the Shopper’s Drug Mart on the UBC campus). Free parking at the rear of the pub.
