VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed on Wednesday that defender David Edgar underwent successful surgery last night to repair the posterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments (PCL and MCL), as well as the meniscus in his right knee.
"It was an unfortunate circumstance that led to David's injury but we are pleased to hear the procedure was successful," said Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson. "We look forward to having David back on the field and training with the team in the fall."
Edgar suffered the injury as a victim of a hit and run motor vehicle accident last month.
The 6-foot-4 centre back made nine competitive starts and appearances for Whitecaps FC in 2016 after joining the club in July. A native of Kitchener, Ontario, Edgar also has four goals in 41 senior international appearances for Canada.
