Brian White named to MLS Team of the Matchday for Matchday 11

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC forward Brian White has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday following his performance in the 'Caps thrilling 1-1 away draw with New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena on Matchday 11.

White became the club's leading goalscorer across all competitions (44) after scoring a delightful flick in the 15th minute of the match in front of over 60 family and friends in his first match back in his home state of New Jersey.

White, who was acquired via trade from the Red Bulls in June 2021, played two years with the Red Bulls U-23 side before being selected 16th overall by the Red Bulls at the 2018 MLS SuperDraft. In March 2018, White signed his first professional contract with Red Bulls II. Six months later in August, White signed an MLS contract with the first team. White scored 15 goals and added four assists across 51 appearances with the first team.

White now has five goals and three assists in 10 games across all competitions this season, with four of those goals coming in his last four matches. He also recorded seven passes four successful duels, three shots, one recovery, and one clearance against his former club.

This is the second time White has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday (Matchday 5). Attacking midfielder attacking midfielder Ryan Gauld (Matchday 7, Matchday 10), forward Fafà Picault (Matchday 7), midfielder Alessandro Schöpf (Matchday 8), wingback Ali Ahmed (Matchday 4), defender Ranko Veselinović (Matchday 8), and goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka (Matchday 8) have also been named to the Team of the Matchday this season.
